Back posting ... First, I would like to say that I absolutely, completely and utterly appreciate all the comments I have received since joining SC. You are all so generous with your time and genuine enthusiasm for supporting fellow journeyers in capturing moments - big and small - through the lens. They have made me feel good about what I am doing and how I see things. And I appreciate the cc that has been there as well. How else can one grow if not through listening to how others see the same thing. For the next little while, however, I have changed my preferences to no comments because I have been feeling incredibly guilty and stressed that 1) I haven't kept up with replies to the lovely comments you have left and 2) my swings through all the fantastic images posted here are very inconsistent and 3) because I would like to post images that run the gamut from personal, to crappy-but-I-love-it, to yeah, I think I did ok on this without worrying that it's not good enough or interesting enough or whatever I stupidly worry about. I would love to comment on the amazing work I see here without feeling that in doing so, I have put some kind of pressure for there to be a reciprocal comment even if that day's image of mine was stinky or boring or whatever. I have left my email address on the profile and I believe one can always shoot a line through the contact link if someone is compelled to comment :-). This girl is a stranger we met at the beach who, every day, would come by our beach stake-out and ask very politely to play with the dogs. She was a sprite on the beach. what's on shuffle?
Hydrangea's are bursting out all over here in the nation's capital (the US nation that is). Bush after bush after bush of them adorn the neighborhood in all different shades from white to the deepest violet blue. I think the color is affected by ph level of the soil, but as I'm not a gardener and am too lazy to google it, I could be wrong :-).
More flooded light :-). Hopefully, no one needs to run for the sunglasses! Another fun and completely frivolous dipstych. These are palmiers or elephant ears, of course, and they vie for the title of No. 1 Drool Making Human Food with ice cream (the subject of my last dipstych - themes are good, no? :-)). I should make it clear that it's not me who drools, but rather my golden retrievers Bo and Tucker. Spigots, rivulets, relentless columns of drool can occur when I tease them with keeping these palmiers in plain sight. That's the Tuckster on the right, keeping it real, and keeping his entire focus on that bowl of palmiers. I wish I had captured the drool but I didn't and I am not sure anyone actually would want to see that ... I don't eat these things (horror: way too much refined white flour and sugar), but I stand in line at the farmer's market every sunday to buy one each for the dogs. Yeah, I'm that kind of dog mom. what's on shuffle? If Not For You by Bryan Ferry from Dylanesque

Blue-popping-berries from the farmer's market. In thinking about why I wanted to post this, knowing that the blur and the shield your eyes whiteout at the top will not appeal to many, I can only say I actually really love this effect. It's a personal addiction to maximum aperture. Hey when you don't have these wonderful wide-open landscapes, you have to find other things to play with :-). I know I could have stopped down (and if I am honest, I should have gone to 1.8 or 2.0 to get a more even diminishing depth of field), but it's the extremity of this that attracts me. I think the berries pop so much more than if they had all been equally sharp, and the flood of hazy blurry light hints what's behind the berries. what's on shuffle?
I've got a camera body that doesn't auto focus with a few of my lenses. That's not always a bad thing as manual focus is a lot of fun and you look like you know what you are doing, expertly twiddling that focus ring. Well, looks can be deceiving. At least in my case, cuz I regularly screw up, particularly at maximum aperture, which is a continual obsession. F/1.8, 1.6, 1.4, bring it on. One of these days I am going to tame those apertures. But for now, I'm ok with my failures as sometimes they turn out to be rather interesting. At least to me. what's on shuffle? Half Past France by John Cale from Paris 1919
