Black Twig Apples
One of my obsessions is to go to the farmer's market. The apples from this particular fm come from the Dupont fm in Washington DC. In summer, I am fortunate to live within 3 miles of four seperate farmer's markets, which is almost too much to bear for a nutrition nazi (read, one of those annoying foodie types who yammers on about local, sustainable, non-industrial processed food). Ok, so I try not to yammer on too much ... But instead, I take way too many images of my days at the fm and I have to compell myself not to post everything that makes me smile to the flickr account.

These are black twig apples and they were sitting alone in a small basket in April (not the season for wonderful just-picked apples I am thinking). I didn't end up buying any, which is rather surprising since a day without apples is a sad day indeed. I am told that they aren't really eating apples and that they often turn pretty black. These apples were absolutely glowing, sitting there in their little basket.
