A foggy evening at the beach
An evening in Duck, North Carolina, a little beach town in the Outer Banks. This image is rather flat but I can see at least 4 different stories here: the beach chair dwellers, the fishermen reclaiming the beach, the man training his retriever to retrieve, and the girl dancing in the waves. what's on shuffle? And is there also a kite flier somewhere, Karima? This is not a flat image at all to me. In fact, it has a sweet vintage, nostalgic feel to it!
Karima Selehdar: Thank Ginnie. There is a mood here that I like too! You know, I too thought kite at fist, but I really think that is the canvas retriever toy that the man just tossed.
A lot of interesting stuff going on in this nice silhouette image!
Karima Selehdar: Many thanks Michael. There do seem to be several stories here. I really don't think these people are connected to each other (my impression from walking the beach).
I love these sort of shots Karima ... works well in b and w.
Just the tilted horizon is making my back itch ... I know a software twiddle that will cure that in 2 seconds. richard
Karima Selehdar: Busted! Ok, so confession time. I had this in the queue, and my husband, who isn't really into this new obsession of mine but who does like to see the results, made a little comment about how he liked it blah, blah but it was tilted and should be fixed. Lazy me, I didn't think it was so bad so I left it as it. But I gotta sheepishly say, you're right and I should have bumped it just a bit. I don't think I can replace an image in SC once it's up and running with comments, but maybe I am wrong.
good choice with the sepia... liking the silo...
Karima Selehdar: many thanks for the comment, Samarth - good eye on that very light layer of sepia on the black and white!
Despite being flat, I like the image with tons of visual interest!
Karima Selehdar: Thank you Craig! Being there, you see all the different families and stories and that's sometimes hard to capture.
yes Karima i have been guilty of this myself lol, which is a wee shame as this is a cracking image for sure, i love the way the scene fades away in the distance. Its a small mistake that i and you will not be making again i feel
Karima Selehdar: Yup, Tim, you can bet I will be far more aware of proper alignment in future shots. Thanks for stopping by!
b/w works so well with this image.
Karima Selehdar: Many thanks Mroy. The color version was ok but I like the grainy feel to this one so much better.
I really like this backlight shot Karima. There are so many things happening at the same time! The tilt is not upsetting me at all!
Karima Selehdar: Thanks for the tilt support
Interesting pic, a lot going on and a combination of high contrast and high key in the background
Karima Selehdar: Many thanks Nigel.
I like much this atmosphere. A good work, Karima!
Karima Selehdar: Thanks for stopping by Jose!
I just returned from a vacation in Florida. This shot threw me back to the wonderful time we spent on the beach. Would be a great photograph, if not for the tilted horizon line.
Wonderful monotones. Love it!
Karima Selehdar: I so glad you like this Marybeth!
I like the atmosphere in this shot - it has the look of a vintage photograph. Just a little bit dark on the left hand side.
Ingrid
Karima Selehdar: Hi Ingrid. Yup, you're right. Not so handy with the dodge tool so I left it as is with the hope that it was fine kinda dark and grainy
this looks very old and authentic
Karima Selehdar: Hi Chantal, many thanks! That's what I was trying for.
Great action shot! I love the old-timey feel of the black and white with the noise. It has a mood all its own.
Karima Selehdar: Thanks Caryn! I really like that noise here too.
This is a nice moody beach scene. I am not sure the tilt enhances the shot.
Karima Selehdar: Hi Martin. No, the tilt doesn't add to the photo
Four stories in one photo !!! Great feat, Karima !!
I like this old effect on this shot.
Karima Selehdar: Many thanks for the kind comment Fabrice. So, when darkness fell, all these folks went in to their respective houses and had all sorts of interesting evenings. Stories indeed.
I really love the atmosphere in this photo, the grain and as you say the stories in it. I find it very interesting.
Karima Selehdar: Many thanks Jordi. I, too like the grain and wondering what their lives are like.
What a lovely shot, relaxing yet full of action.
Karima Selehdar: Many thanks, Gingeybaby!
I like the vignetting very much.
Karima Selehdar: Hi Larry, thanks for the kind comment!
Hey - a modern beach ballet!
Karima Selehdar: Very clever descriptive. I love it, Thanks, Chris for stopping by.
Es un placer compartir esta aventura. Realmente maravilloso. Esta imagen en particular, la encuentro muy bonita.
Karima Selehdar: Hi Enric. Even I, with very rudimentary spanish can mostly understand your kind comment!
